Celestone Information:

Celestone is a corticosteroid used for treating different medical issues, particularly conditions related to decreased adrenal functionality such as HIV/AIDS. It can also be used for treating inflammation caused due to conditions like asthma, blood disorders, multiple sclerosis, lupus, allergies, or rheumatoid arthritis. Your doctor may also prescribe Celestone in order to treat cancers like leukemia. The generic name of the drug is Betamethasone Sodium Phosphate-Betamethasone Acetate, and it belongs to the category of corticosteroids.

Description of Celestone:

Celestone is available in the form of an injection available in 5ml and 10ml packs. The initial dosage given to a patient can vary from Celestone 0.25mg to 9mg, depending on the disease being treated and the medical condition of the patient. Celestone is also available in the form of a paste or gel which needs to be applied directly on the affected areas of the body.

Advantages of Celestone:

Celestone helps in getting rid of inflammation caused due to different conditions, thus relieving symptoms such as heat, redness, and pain. There are minimal side effects of the drug that may include mild nausea, increasing sweating, bloating and acne. Most of these side effects are mild and get better on their own as your body gets used to the medicine. However, if any of these persist or worsen, you should contact your doctor immediately.

How Celestone Works:

Celestone adjusts the way a person’s immunity responds to certain diseases and conditions. In addition to this, it also reduces inflammation caused by different conditions and protects the area from further injury.

Safety & Precautionary Information:

If you are using the paste or gel form of Celestone, you should make sure that it does not enter your eyes, mouth, or nose. If this happens, you should immediately clean the area with lot of water. Patients suffering from skin tuberculosis, vaccinia, any skin allergy, herpes simplex, or any fungal or viral skin infection should not buy Celestone, as it may increase side effects or worsen the condition/s. You should also not use this medicine if you have diabetes mellitus or peptic ulcers. Pregnant women or breastfeeding mothers are also not advised to use Celestone.

This medicine weakens your immune system and therefore, it would be better to stay away from sick people and patients suffering from any kind of infection, including measles and chicken pox. Vaccines do not work effectively if taken with steroids, and therefore, you should not receive any live vaccinations during Celestone treatment. When it comes to stopping the medicine, you should not do so immediately as this may lead to some unwanted symptoms. Your doctor will decrease the dosage gradually. Apart from these precautions, you should also decrease alcohol intake, or if possible, stop taking alcohol altogether, as it may worsen your condition and may not allow the medicine to work as expected.
