Kytril IV Manufacturer:
RocheKytril IV Information:
Kytril IV is a serotonin-3 receptor antagonist, and its generic name is granisetron hydrochloride. The drug is used to prevent vomiting and nausea that may occur due to chemotherapy or radiation therapy. It does so by preventing the chemical, that is responsible for triggering vomiting and nausea in the body, from activating its receptors. The occurrence of nausea and vomiting may cause problems for a patient in some cases and slow down the recuperation process because of the inability of the patient to digest food properly.
Description of Kytril IV:
Kytril IV is a colorless, clear, non-pyrogenic, sterile, and aqueous solution meant for intravenous administration. You can buy Kytril IV in its 1 ml variant for single use or opt for the 4 ml variant for multiple uses.
Advantages of Kytril IV:
There are many advantages of taking Kytril IV, including the following:
- Kytril IV offers preliminary protection against the early and late onset of acute nausea and vomiting.
- A single dose of Kytril IV has been proven to prevent side effects like nausea and vomiting that occur due to medications that are emetogenic in the initial phase. It can protect the patient against moderate and heavy emetogenic agents that are delivered as chemotherapy medications for 24 hours.
- The long-acting effectiveness of this medication can help in preventing nausea and vomiting caused by medications that act as emetogenic agents during the late stages.
- It is available as a single dose vial, as well as convenient multi-dosage vials.
- The infusion therapy takes just 30 seconds, which reduces preparation time and administration costs and improves convenience.
How Kytril IV Works:
Kytril IV works by preventing certain chemicals from acting in the body. These chemicals that are targeted are responsible for causing nausea and vomiting, and they are triggered by emetogenic agents. The recommended dosage is 10mcg per kg. It is administered as in intravenous injection in a span of 30 seconds. The injection is administered at least 30 minutes before chemotherapy begins. Kytril IV is administered only on days when chemotherapy is performed.
Safety & Precautionary Information:
There are certain precautions that need to be observed before using Kytril IV. These are:
- Do not take Kytril IV if you are allergic to granisetron or any other similar medications like dolasetron, palonosetron, and ondansetron.

- Some serious side effects include pounding or fast heartbeat, easy bleeding or bruising, unusual fatigue, body ache, flu-like symptoms, and fever.
