Paragard Information
ParaGard is a hormone free device for successful contraception. It does not involve hormone injections or pills and is reliable and hassle free. It is the longest lasting contraceptive device available and has fewer health risks as compared to other drug induced contraception. It is placed in the uterus and hence is called an intrauterine device (IUD).Description of Paragard
ParaGard is a device made of flexible plastic and copper. It is in the shape of a small 'T' a little longer than an inch. The stem and arms are wrapped by a fine copper wire. There is a thin thread attached to the bottom end of the 'T'. This helps easy location and removal of the device when needed. It is inserted in to the uterus by the doctor. The ParaGard price is below a hundred dollars which makes it quite affordable.Advantages of Paragard
ParaGard is an easy to use form of birth control. It does not require routine checks by the doctor or a repeat dosage. You can do a monthly self check on your own. It starts working immediately on insertion. It can be kept for as long as required even up to 10 years. The placement of the ParaGard is a non-surgical procedure and can be fully reversed. It is 100% hormone free and does not interfere with the natural working of the body. It is 99.4% effective against pregnancy. The ParaGard price is also quite reasonable considering the long term usage of the device. So the Paragard price is kept low, the IUD comes as a boon to women.Administration and Treatment of Paragard
ParaGard IUD works in more than one way. It has not been completely understood; however, certain theories have been suggested. It is thought that several birth control methods may influence the ovum, the egg and the sperm. Studies of the ParaGard IUD have shown that fertilization of the egg is prevented by destroying the sperm. It is a known fact that the IUD does not stop ovulation. So if some sperm reaches the egg, it leads to fertilization. When this occurs, ParaGard IUD is believed to stop the embryo from implanting in the uterus. Thus, it controls pregnancy.Safety and Precautionary Information
