Prolia is prescribed for treatment of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women with high risk of bone fracture. The generic name of the drug is Denosumab. It belongs to a class of drugs known as monoclonal antibodies. Prolia reduces the rate of bone loss and provides the body the time it needs to build and repair bones. The drug is also known to reduce the probability of hip, non vertebral and, vertebral fractures.
