Sandostatin is prescribed for treating a condition known as acromegaly as well as certain types of tumours. It is a condition in which there is a high level of growth hormones in the patient’s blood, which results in defective and uncontrolled growths on the patient’s body, especially on the face. The generic name of the drug is Octreotide Acetate, and it belongs to the group of drugs termed hormone drugs or somatostatin analogs. Description of Sandostatin:
This drug is prescribed to a patient if other procedures like pituitary irradiation, surgical resection, and other treatments have failed to work.
