Description of Zoladex Injection:
Zoladex Injection is administered via an implant inserted under the skin of the patient’s upper stomach. The implant can’t be felt, does not cause any discomfort or pain, and gets dissolved in your body over time. The next implant is given after 28 days, but in a different place if a patient is also on chemotherapy treatment too.
Advantages of Zoladex Injection:
Although Zoladex Injection is administered via an implant; you are not likely to feel it as no pain is experienced. The implant gets dissolved in the body on its own naturally. The drug has very mild side effects such as sweating, dizziness, diarrhea, insomnia, and acne. Most of these are short-lived and improve on their own within a few days.
How Zoladex Injection Works:
The hypothalamus normally secrets peptide hormone, which is the main constituent of Zoladex Injection. The drug works by inhibiting the secretion of pituitary gonadotropin. Initially, the serum levels of testosterone increase, but with time, it is brought down as your body adjusts to the medicine.
